State College, Pa - The Penn State Fayette volleyball team swept Penn State Hazleton Monday to advance back to the PSUAC championships.
"I am so excited and happy for these girls to be moving on to the championships," said head coach Sam Swetz. "But we have work to do."
Fayette (20-7) won the first set easily, 25-14, but Hazleton (15-11) put up a fight in the second.
With Fayette leading 23-22, Swetz called a timeout.
"I told (the girls) we had to play our game and finish strong," Swetz said of her message during to timeout. "That is exactly what they did."
In the third set, Fayette didn't give Hazleton any hope as it jumped out to a 10-1 lead and cruised to a 25-9 win to advance to the championship match against Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Fayette now faces Penn State Beaver (17-15) Tuesday night at 6 p.m. for the PSUAC championship.
The teams played twice this season with Fayette sweeping both matches.
