Penn State Fayette dropped an 11-1 decision to Penn State Beaver on April 12 at home.
Beaver got on the board early with two runs in the opening inning and maintained steady pressure throughout the game, adding runs in the fourth and a key three-run fifth inning to extend their lead. The visitors continued to add insurance late, pulling away in the final innings.
Fayette's lone run came in the third inning when Hunter Smiley led off with a double and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Connor Perry to make it 2-1 at the time.
At the plate, Fayette recorded five hits, with Smiley, Ashton Ray, Alex Weber, James Knapton, and Jonathan Vasbinder each contributing one. Fayette also showed patience, drawing five walks in the contest.
On the mound, Brandon Bieler started and worked five innings, allowing six runs (two earned) while striking out four. Josh Hammer and Todd Kowalcyk provided relief over the final two innings.
Defensively, Fayette turned a double play but was hurt by three errors, which contributed to extended innings for Beaver.
