Penn State Fayette was defeated 15-3 by Penn State Du Bois on Monday, but saw a standout performance at the plate from Connor Perry in the home contest.
Du Bois jumped out early, scoring in each of the first three innings to build an 8-0 advantage. The visitors used a combination of extra-base hits and timely offense, including a pair of home runs in the second inning, to take control of the game.
Fayette responded in the third inning behind Perry, who delivered a two-run home run to left field, scoring Jonathan Vasbinder and putting Fayette on the board. Perry continued to produce offensively, finishing the day 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, and all three RBIs for Fayette.
Despite trailing, Fayette continued to compete and added another run in the fifth inning. Vasbinder reached base and later scored on Perry's RBI double to cut into the deficit.
At the plate, Fayette recorded seven hits, with Perry leading the way. Alex Weber, Manny Stitch, Ashton Ray, and Vasbinder each contributed a hit in the effort.
On the mound, Remington Lessman took the loss, allowing eight runs (five earned) over three innings. Josh Hammer provided relief across two innings, while Ashton Ray closed out the game.
Du Bois added insurance runs late to extend the lead, but Fayette continued to battle throughout the contest.
