Stitch Homer Not Enough as Fayette Drops Series Finale
Late Innings Lift Du Bois Past Penn State Fayette in Game Two
Penn State Fayette was unable to secure a split on Sunday, falling 6-2 to Penn State Du Bois in the second game of the series.
Fayette struck first in the third inning when Alex Weber delivered an RBI single to bring home Jonathan Vasbinder, giving the visitors an early 1-0 lead. The advantage held through four innings behind a solid outing on the mound from Brogan Meighen, who kept Du Bois off the scoreboard early.
The game shifted in the fifth inning as Du Bois used the long ball to take control. A two-run home run from Hayden Vaughn put the home side in front before Isaac Tiracorda followed with a solo shot to extend the lead to 3-1.
Fayette responded in the sixth inning with a solo home run from Manny Stitch, cutting the deficit to 3-2 and briefly swinging momentum back in their favor. However, Du Bois answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning. An RBI single from Josh Stout, followed by a sacrifice play from Cole Bloom that brought in two runs—one aided by a Fayette error—pushed the lead to 6-2.
At the plate, Fayette recorded five hits, with Stitch leading the way with his home run and Weber adding an RBI. Connor Perry, Ashton Ray, and Frank Macioce each contributed a hit in the effort.
Meighen went the distance for Fayette, allowing six runs on nine hits over six innings while not issuing a walk.
