Fayette Wraps Up Road Trip with 10-5 Loss to Central Penn
Penn State Fayette closed out its six-game road trip on March 22 with a 10-5 loss to Central Penn at FNB Field.
Fayette got off to a strong start, scoring twice in the second inning. James Knapton drove in the game's first run with an RBI single, and Connor Perry followed with a run-scoring hit to give Fayette an early 2-0 lead.
Central Penn responded quickly, using a three-run home run in the second inning to take the lead before adding four more runs in the third to break the game open. The hosts continued to add on in the middle innings, building a 10-2 advantage heading into the seventh.
Despite the deficit, Fayette continued to compete and showed fight late. Perry provided a spark with a two-run home run in the seventh inning, finishing the day with three RBIs. The offense added another run in the inning as Tyler Marra drew a bases-loaded walk to cap the scoring.
Fayette totaled nine hits in the contest, with Perry leading the way with two hits and three RBIs. Knapton also recorded two hits and an RBI, while several others contributed to a balanced offensive effort.
On the mound, Brogan Meighen took the start, going four innings while battling through Central Penn's offensive surge. Josh Hammer added two innings of relief to finish the game.
Penn State Fayette showed resilience throughout the road trip, competing across six games and gaining valuable experience that will carry forward into the remainder of the season.
