Fayette Tests Itself on Big Stage at FNB Field
Fayette Battles at FNB Field in 7-4 Loss to Central Penn
Penn State Fayette continued its road trip on March 22 with a matchup against Central Penn at FNB Field, home of the Harrisburg Senators, but fell 7-4 despite a late push.
Central Penn jumped out early, scoring in each of the first four innings to build a 6-0 advantage, highlighted by a solo home run and a three-RBI performance from Tanner McCoy. Fayette found itself playing from behind but continued to battle throughout.
Fayette broke through in the fifth inning as Ashton Ray sparked the offense, coming around to score on a Connor Perry RBI double. Remington Lessman followed with a triple to bring Perry home, cutting the deficit to 6-2.
After Central Penn added another run in the sixth, Fayette mounted one final push in the seventh. Lessman drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and Josh Vacha added an RBI single to trim the lead to 7-4, but the comeback effort fell short.
Ray led the way offensively, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Perry, Lessman, and Vacha each contributed RBIs. Fayette totaled eight hits in the contest, including extra-base hits from Perry, Ray, and Lessman.
On the mound, AJ Segarra went five innings, allowing six runs on ten hits while battling through traffic on the bases. Josh Vacha provided a strong relief outing, striking out three in one inning of work.
Despite the result, Fayette showed resilience late and gained valuable experience playing in a professional setting. The team will look to build on that fight as the road trip continues.
