Fayette Earns Road Win at Penn State New Kensington; Grumm Reaches 1,000 Career Points
New Kensington, Pa. – Penn State Fayette improved to 2-0 in conference play with a 71–55 road victory over Penn State New Kensington on February 12, highlighted by a historic milestone for senior Heaven Grumm, who surpassed 1,000 career points during the contest.
Fayette set the tone early, jumping out to a 21–9 lead after the first quarter and carrying a 37–23 advantage into halftime. The Roaring Lions maintained control down the stretch, closing out the 16-point win behind balanced scoring and a strong presence on the glass.
Grumm finished with 13 points, and her milestone basket marked a significant achievement in an outstanding collegiate career. She also added four rebounds, two assists, and three steals in the victory.
Savannah Walls led all Fayette scorers with an impressive 25-point performance, shooting 9-of-17 from the field and 7-of-11 from the free throw line, while adding nine rebounds. Reagan Rudder contributed 13 points, including three three-pointers, and Geelece Ingram added 11 points.
Fayette dominated the boards, outrebounding New Kensington 40–34, with Amari Wilkes delivering a standout effort of 13 rebounds to go along with seven points and three assists.
Defensively, Fayette limited New Kensington to just 29.2 percent shooting from the field and forced 10 turnovers, maintaining composure throughout as the hosts attempted to rally in the third quarter.
The team receives a bye finishing #3 seed. They will now travel to Dubois on Tuesday in the playoffs.
