.Defensive Battle Tilts Late in Favor of Shenang
Shenango Pulls Away Late to Defeat Fayette, 69–60
Penn State Fayette battled through three tightly contested quarters but a decisive fourth-quarter run by Penn State Shenango proved the difference in a 69–60 loss on Saturday afternoon at the Buhl Club.
The Lady Lions stayed within striking distance throughout the opening half, trailing just 38–36 at the break after strong interior play and active rebounding. Fayette continued to apply pressure coming out of halftime, holding Shenango to just six points in the third quarter while taking a 57–44 lead heading into the final period.
Shenango responded with a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring Fayette 25–3 over the final ten minutes to swing momentum and secure the home victory.
Savannah Walls led Fayette with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, while Heaven Grumm added 14 points on efficient shooting. Amari Wilkes recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds, and Reagan Rudder chipped in nine points.
Despite holding Shenango to under 20 percent shooting from three-point range, Fayette struggled offensively in the final quarter and was unable to regain control after the late surge.
Penn State Fayette will look to bounce back as they continue conference play later this week.
