Strong Defense, Big Boards Power Fayette Past New Kensington
Lemont Furnace, Pa. – Penn State Fayette put together a dominant all-around performance on Monday night, rolling past Penn State New Kensington, 86–39, at the Community Center.
The Roaring Lions set the tone early with aggressive defense and strong rebounding, holding New Kensington to just 20.8 percent shooting from the field. Fayette controlled the glass throughout the contest, finishing with a decisive 65–36 rebounding advantage, which helped fuel consistent scoring opportunities on the offensive end.
Savannah Walls led the charge for Fayette with a strong double-double, finishing with 19 points and 15 rebounds while adding four assists. Heaven Grumm paced the scoring attack with a game-high 20 points, knocking down four three-pointers and adding five rebounds. Reagan Rudder also recorded a double-double, contributing 15 points and 13 boards while shooting 6-for-11 from the floor.
Fayette's bench made a major impact as well, led by Za'layah Edwards, who connected on four three-pointers and finished with 13 points and four assists. Geelece Ingram added seven rebounds and four assists, helping Fayette maintain control on both ends of the floor.
Defensively, the Roaring Lions limited New Kensington to just five made three-pointers and forced 11 turnovers, keeping pressure on the visitors for all four quarters.
Penn State Fayette remains strong at home as the team continues conference play with momentum heading into the next matchup.
