Storm Cuts Series Short After Game One Setback
Fayette Falls to Kent State Tuscarawas; Game Two Cancelled Due to Weather
The Penn State Fayette softball team dropped the opening game of its series against Kent State Tuscarawas, falling 8–0 before the second game was cancelled due to incoming storms.
Kent State Tuscarawas struck early, scoring a run in the first inning before adding another in the third to build a 2–0 lead. The game broke open in the fourth inning, when the visitors plated six runs to extend their advantage.
Fayette looked to respond offensively but was limited to four hits on the day. Taylor Doppelheuer, Kylie Stevenson, Julie Cooper, and Haylee Speicher each recorded a hit for the Lions.
Despite the result, Fayette showed flashes defensively and on the basepaths, with Speicher adding a stolen base.
In the circle, Sidney Bergman got the start, allowing one run in the opening inning, while Makenzee Kenney provided relief over four innings. Kent State Tuscarawas capitalized on key opportunities to build their lead.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was ultimately cancelled due to worsening weather conditions.
