Fayette Completes Dominant Sweep with 22–6 Victory at Hazleton
Penn State Fayette continued its explosive form on April 12, completing a doubleheader sweep of Penn State Hazleton with a commanding 22–6 victory in game two.
After putting up 20 runs in the opener, Fayette showed no signs of slowing down, once again piling up 20 hits while scoring in four of the five innings played.
Fayette struck early with three runs in the first inning and continued to build momentum with a four-run second. The Lions broke the game open in the third with five more runs before delivering the knockout blow in a 10-run fourth inning to seal the victory.
Offensively, it was another complete team effort. Kylie Stevenson led the way with a 4-for-5 performance and four RBIs, while Sidney Bergman added three hits and scored four runs. Kendra Firestone crossed the plate four times and drove in two runs, and Makenzee Kenney contributed with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Morgan Matthews had a strong all-around game, recording three hits and an RBI, while Julie Cooper added two hits and two RBIs, including a double. Hayleigh Vance also made her presence felt, reaching base multiple times, scoring four runs, and driving in another.
In the circle, Matthews went the distance, earning the win while striking out six over five innings.
Despite a brief push from Hazleton in the third inning, Fayette quickly responded and reasserted control with its dominant fourth inning.
The Lions' offensive firepower across both games—combining for 42 runs on 40 hits—highlighted a statement doubleheader performance and showcased the depth and consistency of the lineup.
