Penn State Fayette Faces Tough Test Against New Kensington
Penn State Fayette fell to Penn State New Kensington on April 3, dropping a 16-0 decision at home.
New Kensington took control early, scoring in the opening inning before breaking the game open with an eight-run second inning. The visitors continued to apply pressure throughout, adding runs in the third and fourth innings to extend their lead.
Fayette worked to respond but was unable to generate offense against a strong outing in the circle from Olivia Waldrop, who held Fayette hitless over five innings.
In the circle for Fayette, Makenzee Kenney started the game, allowing nine runs (seven earned) over two innings. Sidney Bergman provided relief, pitching three innings and striking out two.
Defensively, Fayette battled but was hindered by four errors, which contributed to extended innings for New Kensington.
Despite the result, Fayette continued to compete throughout and will look to regroup as they move forward in their schedule.
