Stevenson Drives in Two as Fayette Battles at Kent State Tuscarawas
Penn State Fayette dropped a hard-fought road contest on March 29, falling 4-2 to Kent State Tuscarawas.
The game remained scoreless through the first three innings as Sidney Bergman and the Fayette defense held strong early. Bergman worked through the lineup efficiently, keeping the home side off the board while Fayette looked to find a breakthrough offensively.
Kent State Tuscarawas broke through in the fourth inning, scoring four runs on a combination of extra-base hits and a home run from Eloisa Reyes to take a 4-0 lead.
Fayette responded in the fifth inning, cutting the deficit in half. Sidney Bergman and Taylor Doppelheuer reached base and came around to score on a two-RBI single from Kylie Stevenson, making it a 4-2 game.
In the circle, Bergman took the loss after allowing four runs over four innings, while Makenzee Kenney provided a strong relief effort, tossing two scoreless innings and allowing just one hit.
At the plate, Fayette collected five hits, with Stevenson leading the way with two RBIs. Bergman added a double, while Haylee Speicher and Doppelheuer each recorded a hit.
Despite continued effort late, Fayette was unable to add to their total as Kent State Tuscarawas held on for the 4-2 win.
