2011 Golf season kicks off at Mystic Rock

UNIONTOWN – The golf team from Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus will open the 2011 season by hosting the Fifth Annual Red Poling Invitational on Wednesday, Sept. 7 with a 10:00 a.m. start.

The invitational will once again be played at Mystic Rock Golf Course at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa, its home for the previous four events. Recently rated as one of the top courses you can play in Pennsylvania by Golfweek magazine, the course was the home of the PGA Tour's 84 Lumber Classic from 2003 through 2006.

From there, Head Coach Steve Superick's squad will head to Fayetteville and historic Penn National Golf Course for the Penn State Mont Alto Invitational on Sept. 15. Penn National has received a four-start rating from Golf Digest.

Fayette will also travel to the Links at Spring Church for the Penn State New Kensington Invitational on Sept. 27, before concluding the regular season with the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational on Oct. 5 at Butler's Golf Course in Elizabeth.

The PSUAC Championships are scheduled for Oct. 10-11 at Penn State's Blue Course at University Park. Once again, the USCAA National Golf Championships will be contested concurrently with the PSUAC event.
