FARMINGTON, Pa. - As rain fell, a soggy Mystic Rock Golf Course helped inflate scores in the fourth annual Red Poling Invitational. The former home to the PGA Tour's 84 Lumber Classic yielded only one score in the 70's on a dismal day. The tournament, the make-up of a Sept. 7 rainout, had brutal winds and rain tapering off towards the end of the rounds.
Freshman Shelby Dziak (Eighty Four, Pa.) led the Roaring Lions with a 91, but her teammates were unable to break 100 as Fayette finished fifth with a 424.
Penn College's Alex Howe won the tournament with a 77, as no one else would broke 80 on the day. Penn also took home the team title, winning by 23 strokes over Penn State New Kensington, 339-362.
Fayette returns to the golf course on Wednesday, Oct. 5 as they travel to Butler's Golf Course in Elizabeth, Pa. for the Penn State Greater Allegheny Invitational.
Scores
Shelby Dziak - 91
Shawn Nicholson - 105
Tyler Broadwater - 107
Matt Colussy - 121
