Jones earns All-Tournament honors

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – Penn State Fayette sophomore guard Derek Jones enjoyed a tremendous opening weekend to the season with a pair of quality games for the Roaring Lions in the USCAA Tip-Off Tournament held at Greater Allegeny.

Penn State Fayette's Derek Jones was named to the USCAA Tip-Off Tournament All-Tournament team on Nov. 9. With Jones is Penn State Greater Allegheny Athletic Director Jim Chester.

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. – Penn State Fayette sophomore guard Derek Jones enjoyed a tremendous opening weekend to the season with a pair of quality games for the Roaring Lions in the USCAA Tip-Off Tournament held at Greater Allegeny.

In the opener, Jones dropped 27 points, grabbed five rebounds and had for steals to lead the Roaring Lions in the loss to Apprentice School, Newport News, Va.

In the tournament's consolation game, Jones had five steals, nine points and one rebound as the Roaring Lions notched their first win of the season 66-59 against Greater Allegheny.

On the weekend, Jones totaled 36 points, nine assists and six rebounds.

His fine showing earned him All-Tournament honors.

Jones currently leads the nation in steals per game with a 4.5 average.
