Lemont Furnace, Pa - The Penn State Fayette Department of Athletics would like to congratulate and welcome the newest member of the PS-Fayette Nittany Lions baseball program.
Austin Benton, a Patuxent High School graduate, had committed to furthering his academic and athletic career as a Nittany Lion of Penn State Fayette. Benton reins from Lusby, MD and played baseball the past 2 seasons for the Skipjacks of Chesapeake College baseball program. During his 2 years with their program, Benton earned both an Academic 1st team All-Regional All-American D1 NJCAA and Academic 2nd team All-National All-American D1 NJCAA awards.
Austin will be expected to add depth to the third base position. With many of the current 3B players also being pitchers, this will give Austin much more playing time as they are on the mound. The coaching staff is also interested in trying him out at middle infield as well testing his skillset on the mound.
Benton is continuing his major of supply and chain project management. His career interests is facilities and project management. While continuing his academic and athletic career here at Penn State Fayette, he is looking forward to the opportunity for growth both academically and in baseball. Though college and athletics can be stressful and tough, his family and aspirations of success motivate him to better every day. Even though his family has always been there for him, he would like to thank his father specifically for being one of the greatest influences in getting him where he is today.
