Fayette's Eckert Named John Egli Outstanding Student-Athletes
Uniontown, Pa. — Penn State Fayette's Emma Eckert has been named the recipient of the prestigious John Egli Outstanding Student-Athlete Award, recognizing her exceptional achievements in the classroom, in competition, and in the community.
The Egli Award is presented annually to one male and one female student-athlete who exemplify excellence across all aspects of the collegiate experience. The honor highlights individuals whose impact extends beyond athletics, recognizing their total contribution to campus life.
A fourth-year standout on the women's volleyball team, Eckert has built an impressive career as both a leader and playmaker. The setter earned PSUAC All-Conference recognition multiple times, including Second Team honors in 2024 and Honorable Mention in 2025. She played a pivotal role in leading the Roaring Lions to a PSUAC West Division title in 2024 and helped guide her team to a fourth-place finish at the USCAA National Championship in 2023.
Eckert's impact on the court is reflected in her consistent production and leadership. She totaled more than 1,400 career assists, including a personal-best 566 during the 2023 season, serving as the engine of Penn State Fayette's offense throughout her career.
Equally impressive has been Eckert's success in the classroom. A psychology major, she has maintained a GPA above 3.75 while balancing the demands of collegiate athletics. She plans to continue her education pursuing a degree in counseling, with the goal of becoming a school counselor.
Beyond her academic and athletic accomplishments, Eckert has demonstrated a deep commitment to service. She has been actively involved with the Miracle League of Pennsylvania, helping provide opportunities for children with disabilities to participate in sports. Inspired by her late brother, Eckert has also contributed to Team Ian Charities, a foundation established in his honor that supports families of children with disabilities by providing resources and financial assistance.
Recipients of the Egli Award are selected by the PSUAC Awards Committee following a review of nominations submitted by member campuses. Honorees are recognized at their campus student awards banquet and are invited to participate in Penn State's annual All-U Day celebration, held in conjunction with a Penn State football game.
Eckert's recognition is a testament to her dedication, compassion, and excellence—qualities that define the true spirit of the John Egli Outstanding Student-Athlete Award.
